The Story Of The Little Man Who Once Lived In A Mouth

I woke up to the sound of metal clinging. I was in for a rude awakening: literally.
"Now let's see those pearly whites!", I heard one of the giants, who clearly had too much enthusiasm, say. What look like an oversized golf club started invading my "home". For the past year I've been living in one of the giants mouths. It's the only thing little people like me do. We live in a giants mouth because one, the food is free, and two, a mouth serves as a good shelter. But I got over all the complimentary stuff after the first two days. If feels like I'm in, what do the giants call it?, prison. To put the icing on the cake, the giant whose mouth I'm living in, has very unhygienic teeth. Which leads us to were are we are right now: the dentists office. However, I have made a decision. Today is the day I escape.
I have been planning this since six months ago, our last dentist appointment. I thought back to six months ago, I remember the dentist put some sort of tube that vacuumed the saliva out of the giants mouth. I would purposely get sucked down into that tube which would take me down to a container filled with saliva. From there I would swim to the hatch that locks and unlocks the container. Then I would get it open and run free.
I waited and waited until the tube came. I crawled in and lay prone eagerly waiting to be pulled down by the force of a thousand winds. Then, right at that moment, when I thought it wouldn't happen and I suddenly felt relieved because deep down I never wanted to leave, it was too late. I was spiraling down a saliva slide at the speed of light. Then I was shot into the container like a cannon shooting a tennis ball. As I crashed into the wall of the container and slid down into the lake that was the key to my freedom, I comprehended what had just happened. Instantly I regretted my actions. For the first time in a long time, even if it was just for a second, I thought about how much I missed  in life the only place I could really call home.
I swam to the other end of the container and unlocked the door. I jumped out and looked at the giants surrounding me. This is what I wanted right? Freedom. But then, when I thought all hope was lost, I saw a way to get back home.
One the side of the container stood a knob. Etched onto the side of the container were two words, "PUSH" and "PULL". The knob was pointing to the side that said "PULL". Instantly my feeling of homesickness deteriorated and was replaced by the most genuine joy in the entire world. Enough Happy Happy Joy Joy, I thought, I'm coming home. My only setback was flipping the switch. Being tiny has it's cons you know. I started climbing up the side of the container and jumped onto the knob. I stood up and, once I caught my balance, started to jump on the knob. Each jump sent me higher and sent the the knob lower. Until finally I pushed the knob down just enough to make the machine pull me straight back up the saliva tube and ejected me back into the giant's mouth.
"Looks like the machine was malfunctioning," said the oh so enthusiastic dentist. But I wasn't complaining. He walked over to the machine and with a simple flick of his fingers, turned the machine back to "PULL". How he did it so easily, I really don't know. But one thing was for sure, I was happy to be home.

A Light In The Window

                              A Light In The Window

                                                 By Ahmed Ishaque

Well, time to head on home, I thought, Trick or treating is some hard work. As I walked down the oh so familiar road on the way home, for the umpteenth time, I got easily bored. So, to entertain myself, I started looking at the house. There was Sarah's house and Vicki's house and Mrs. Fatima who always made her husband give us food or presents if it was a holiday of some sort. Fortunately for me, halloween was included. I knew all the houses on our street, except for that one, I thought. That one is the old abandoned house, or so they say it is. My mom says an old man lives there but he hardly ever comes out. Suddenly, as if on cue a light in the house shone through the window. Thinking that I would be able to snag some extra candy, I went straight up to the door and started knocking. "Trick or Treat!", I exclaimed. Seems like nobody's home, but then how did the lights turn on?, I wondered. Its an abandoned house, I thought. "The electricty probably, doesn't work," I said nervously and started to walk away. I would've kept walking too, but the front door started creaking open. Once again my candy greed kicked in. I slowly walked to the door. "Hello?" I said to the thin air in front of me. Nothing happened. I walked in and noticed the house was very nice. I decided that if someone was in here that they would be upstairs. I walked up the stairs, at this point I wasnt scared. I checked room after room but they were all empty. I realized how much of a dangerous position i was in. I'm in a stranger's house all by myself.  But it was too late. I looked outside and saw a bunch of women huddled around a fire. Immediately I realized that the bingo club wasn't having a bonfire, this was something more. And I wasn't gonna ask what they were doing. I started running. Atop the staircase stood a little girl. I ended up screaming just like one. The thing was, she was levitating. I covered my eyes and ran out the door. Outside I was greeted by some lady who looked as old as my great grandma and the rest of the woodbridge rest home. These ladies were headed straight for me. However, being that they were about a thousand years old. I outran them with ease. I went all the way to my house and locked the door. And it was at that very moment that I woke up. My eyes opened and I sat up on my bed. I looked outside my window and saw the old abandoned house. Suddenly, as if on cue, a light in the house shone through the window.
